Prairie Points
Tutorial

Prairie Points (red triangles around inner boarder). The points
usually sit out from the edge of a seam and poke out around the edge of
a quilt or similar. Here I have inserted them into the inner edge of the
stitchery border with them pointing inwards. There are 2 fabric folding
methods commonly used and I have just used one method below.

On this wall hanging the inner needlework measures 20 x 15 cm ( 8 1/2 x
6 inches)
1. Cut fabric into squares. Then fold
fabric into 4 to form a triangle and press.
2. Pin the triangles around the edge of
your fabric so the ends of the points just overlap each other. Making
sure the folds all face the same direction. Sew along the edge of your
fabric and the raw edge of the points with a 1/8 inch seam allowance.

3. Lay your border fabric over the points and sew border fabric
on top of points and backing fabric with a 1/4 inch seam allowance. Fold
back your border fabric and press. I have sewn beads on top of each
Prairie Point to stop the lower ones from flopping down because the
whole project is hanging on the wall.

The instructions in JMD Designs
