Peace Symbol Bag with Dove and Hearts
Written and Designed by
Janet M. Davies
The Peace Bag front is 21cm (8 inches) wide. The peace symbol and
the hearts are appliqued onto the background fabric with hand stitched Buttonhole stitch
edges. Beads have also been added between the spikes of the Buttonhole stitch on
the peace symbol. Single beads have been added to the centre of each heart
Fusible webbing was used to adhere the applique shapes to the background fabric. The inner bag is lined with pockets.
On the back of the bag the peace dove is hand
quilted. The bag walls have a layer of batting inserted. The edges of the bag
have hand made bias binding.
Below you will find the free applique
templates for the peace symbol and hearts.
Also the quilting lines for the dove. I am sure you have a bag pattern to
utilise the design elements on.

Beads are sewn between the spikes of the button home stitch. I put 2 separate
stitches through each individual bead. 2 stitches side by side help the bead
stay upright and not fall over.
