Kete is Maori for basket or bag. This embellished Applique bag is based on the koru (fern frond). The front background of the bag is stripped with a binding edging. The koru itself sits among beads and paua shells.The koru has been shadow quilted. Another photo shows the back of the bag with pieces of actual paua shell adhered and a twisted hand made cord with tassel ends. The design could be enlarged into a wall hanging or cushion cover etc

Full sized pattern pieces. Comprehensive step by step piecing and stitching Instructions. Step by step stitch glossary. Shopping list of fabrics etc. Suitable for those new to applique. Instructions are for hand stitched non-turned Buttonhole stitched edging, but instructions for slip stitched turned edges and non-turned machining are given.
