Gordon's Owl
This is a modern design based on
Raised Elizabethan embroidery. Traditionally flowers and bugs were
surrounded in vines. Pockets of Needle Lace are stitched directly onto the
fabric and then padded to produce raised stitched areas. Metallic thread and
beads add texture and appeal to the design. The design is 17 x 14 cms (6 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) in size.
The Owl’s body is padded Needle Lace
with fluffy stitching around the eyes. The Moths have Needle Lace wings with
fluffy stitched bodies. The leaves and flower trumpets are padded with a
covering of woven stitching. The flower petals and bugs are padded Needle
Lace. Gold beads decorate the background. There is a total of
4
adorable designs included.
All instructions include metric and imperial
measurements. All
fabric and threads listed are found easily
internationally. There is a full comprehensive stitch glossary and
comprehensive stitching instructions. Instructions
suitable for those new to this style of embroidery but have had some
experience with a needle and thread before.
Perle 8 thread has been used to
stitch with. But Cotton-a-broader #16 can be used successfully also as a
substitute for Perle 8 thread. Stranded cottons, rayon and silks can be used
but only if you have good even tension with the strands in the needle while
stitching. Perle 8 or Cotton-a-broader #16 is suggested for use for those
new to the stitching of Needle Lace.

3 extra
full sized designs included besides the main design.
