Over 19 traditional Mountmellick stitches have been
used in this design. The design could be used on top of a cushion or framed
on the wall.
This style of Needlework was also used to adorn bed quilts
and dollies. Stitched squares could be used as quilt blocks, Or the design
stitched piece could be appliqued onto a bag or similar patchwork item. Also
this style is sturdy enough to stitch on jackets, waistcoats and pockets
etc.
All fabric and threads listed are found
easily internationally. There is a full comprehensive stitch glossary
and comprehensive stitching instructions. Instructions suitable
for those new to this style of embroidery but have had some experience with
a needle and thread before.
Design Size 17 x 18cm (6 1/2 x 7").
