Over the years I
seem to have designed and stitched a few Owls.
I know many love Owls so here they are on one page.
Graduation Owl
I have used 2
different filings in this contemporary
German Schwalm
design
which is Drawn and Pulled thread. This design could be framed as a picture
or placed on the front of a bag, photo album cover or cushion etc. An even
weave fabric must be used. This design pictured is18

Applique attached with hand stitched
buttonhole stitch onto quilting fabric.
Hand quilted around the border and dark green corners.

Anderson's Owl
This Owl applique design could be used as a wall hanging or inserted into a
quilt. The pattern pieces are needle turned applique with edges highlighted
by easy hand stitching. The background is echo quilted. The border corners
have a leaf vine quilted. Total

Gordon's Owl
This is a modern design based on
Raised Elizabethan embroidery. Pockets of Needle Lace are stitched directly onto the
fabric and then padded to produce raised stitched areas. Metallic thread and
beads add texture and appeal to the design. The Owl’s body is padded Needle Lace
with fluffy stitching around the eyes. The Moths have Needle Lace wings with
fluffy stitched bodies. The leaves and flower trumpets are padded with a
covering of woven stitching. The flower petals and bugs are padded Needle
Lace. Gold beads decorate the background. The design is 17 x 14 cms (6 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches) in size.

Alby Owl

Snowy Owl
I am told that Snowy Owl birds have light brown patches for the first two
years. For this Hardanger design
I
have used Anchor Multi Pearl thread with marble shades to reflect that.
This little guy with pure white snow-flakes fluttering around him as he sits
on a branch with leaves.

This Owl has a padded Needle Lace body.
The wings and leaves are wired fabric
stitched upon. The fruit are covered wooden beads. The tree is Raised Stem stitch. The
eyes are made of felt. All threads used are Rayon. Hand dyed fabric. Design: 5 x 8 cm

Height size:19cm (71/2 ”) This adorable Owl is made from
cotton fabric with the body and wings embellished with hand stitching.
The Owl stands on its own firm base.
The pattern can be enlarged or
reduced to make a mother and babies.
A great way of using up those
scraps of fabric.
