Janet's Dolls
I happened along a Soft Cloth Doll making book by Patti Medaris Culea and took a shine to it. I made the body from the pattern in the book; but the clothing and accessories I have designed and made myself. I have named her Candy Fair. The faces in the book are beautifully hand painted; but alas paint brushes and I don't get on well. So I decided to let your imagination design her hair and face.

Candy Fair

When sitting down Candy Fair is 44cm (17") tall.

The skirt of the dress have pink panels inserted with hand made roses to adorn each panel.

All the fabric used is hand dyed cotton. The pink thread is Pearl 8 cotton. The yellow beads are small glass seed beads

The roses I hand made and added strings of beads coming from them. The dress waistline has grouped strings of beads hanging.

All the fishnet on her legs, chest and arms is stitched by hand. It is a type of needlelace.

Candy's shoes have a felt base with bead straps.

I love the shape in the legs... so delicate and danty.

The back of the bodice is laced together.

The sleeves are gathered at each end. Her hand is only 4cm (1 1/2") long.

The blossoms are  4cm (1 1/2") wide.

The "Cloth Doll Making" book by Patti Medaris Culea which I used the pattern for the body from.

Ladybug Nymph

I made the body from the pattern in the book by Patti Medaris Culea ; but the accessories I have designed and made myself. I have named her Ladybug Nymph as she hovers around the garden giving refuge to Ladybugs
.

When sitting down she is 44cm (17") tall. her body is made
of green hand dyed cotton fabric.

Each red flower has appliqued inner yellow shading that has
been buttonhole stitched around each edge. Hand dyed fabric was used.

The 4 wings are doubled sided with beads sewn around the edge and clustered in groups.
The wings are only small which allow her to hover around the garden.
The yellow shapes are hand appliqued with buttonhole stitch edges.

The joints of the knee's and arms have large beads inserted to allow bend.

Varies sizes and shapes of green beads where sewn in groups around the body.

Two sizes of wooden ladybugs were glued to the body.
